The Urban Mapper Project (THUMP) is a collaborative community-driven initiative to cultivate ownership and a sense of identity in people as well as gain a better understanding on issues affecting the community using creative and arts-based cultural mapping methods.

THUMP started off as a pilot project powered by AIESEC, in collaboration with social enterprise, #BetterCities and the Staff Association of UNDP/UNFPA/UNOPS, with a simple aim: to understand the nutrition sources of children in the PPR and to spread the word of healthy eating and living through colour and art.

THUMP is now stepping into it's third phase, focusing on the issue of urbanisation in the city centre of KL.

PHASE 1

The first phase of THUMP took place in a low-cost housing area (Projek Perumahan Rakyat - PPR) to gain a better understanding on issues affecting the community using creative and arts-based mapping methods.
